Final Reflection on Media Production
In Media Production I, I learned skill sets of communication technologically, visually, and interpersonally. Throughout the class, I also developed as a communicator in ways I never thought I would.
Media Production I has helped me learn and strengthen editing skills over numerous platforms. It is an invaluable step into learning how to succeed for my future career in communications, where I will undoubtedly come across the need for know-how in editing. Coming in, I knew only the basics about Final Cut Pro, and have now expanded my knowledge on the workings of the program. I was also surprised to work with a multitude of different programs like Garage band, WordPress, and various media conversion apps.
Throughout the course, I was able to piece together projects in a way that would appeal to a professional audience. After each project was finished, I found the feedback we got back really helpful as it encouraged me to work harder and focus on what could make the projects be better. There were some times that I couldn’t figure out how to get what I was imagining on each project, but it was also this process that helped me develop a better work ethic. I would come in on the weekends over the period of two days or more to work on each project so that I could be satisfied with the turn out.
As we interviewed numerous people for each of our interviews, I was also able to improve my communication skills. It is a personal goal of mine to keep developing as a communicator, so it really was a great opportunity. There had also been instances where I met people I really got along with and interviewing them helped me to get to know more. If there is anything I could tell other people about this class, it is how they will get to meet new people all the time and develop connections.
Although I’m sad to see this class come to end, I know that I have taken a lot of expertise with me. I really hope to take a class that will challenge me to the best of my ability. I am grateful to have been a part of this experience!
